SGI Europe (Services of General Interest Europe, former CEEP), the European Association of Employers and Enterprises providing Public Services
SGI Europe is a cross-sectoral association representing providers of Services of General Interest at EU level. The association was founded in 1961 as the representation of both enterprises and national associations of the public services sector in Europe. Being the association of public employers, SGI Europe is one of three European general cross-industry social partners and represents public sector employers in the European Social Dialogue. Since December 2020, Ingbert Liebing, VKU CEO and bvöd chairman, has been vice president of SGI Europe. The German members of SGI Europe are organized in the German section of SGI Europe, which is called Bundesverband Öffentliche Dienstleistungen (BVÖD). They aim for a coordinated and effective representation of enterprises and organizations responsible for the provision of public services in Germany – communicating via SGI Europe to the European institutions. SGI Europe’s members‘ activities range from transport, energy and water supply, waste management and wastewater treatment to housing, telecommunications and other public services. Further information can be found in the 2021 SGI Europe activity report.
